Steffen Verbist is an accomplished entrepreneur and investor with a diverse background in engineering, economics, consulting, and finance. He began his career as an entrepreneur in 1997, founding a web design company which he later sold in early 2000. Steffen holds a Master in Science from the University of Delft in the Netherlands and a Master in Economics from the University of Rotterdam.
After graduation, Steffen joined McKinsey & Company as a consultant, working in Europe, the Middle East, and Sub-Saharan Africa. He was then granted a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue an MBA at Harvard Business School in Boston. Upon his return to Europe, he was part of the founding team of Vitruvian Partners, a global private equity firm. After a few years, he joined Adelphi Capital, a premier multibillion-dollar fundamental hedge fund in London, where he served as an investor and partner for over a decade.
Steffen is a CFA charter holder, and investing is his passion. In 2022, he left Adelphi Capital to start Luliha, a firm that manages permanent capital for the long term. He is grateful to have a network of like-minded entrepreneurs, investors, and operators who guide and help him as needed.
Outside of work, Steffen enjoys spending time with his family, savoring good food and wine, and staying active by swimming, biking or running. He rarely watches TV but has a passion for reading.
David Buttress is a highly successful entrepreneur and businessman, best known for co-founding JUST EAT, a leading online food delivery company. Over the course of 12 years, David built and managed JUST EAT from a small start-up to a multibillion-pound public company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Under his leadership, the company successfully completed Europe’s largest technology IPO in a decade.
As CEO of JUST EAT, David was responsible for leading several major investments and acquisitions. Highlights include acquiring leading technology businesses in Australia (menulog), Spain (la nevera roja), Italy (Pizza Bo), Canada (Skip the Dishes), UK (hungryhouse and Flypay), and LATAM (ifood).
David has received numerous accolades for his work, including being named “Entrepreneur of the Year” at the Investor Allstars Awards in 2014 and being included in the Debrett’s 500 list of Britain’s most influential people in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Glassdoor also named him as one of the UK’s Top 5 CEOs in 2015 and 2016.
In 2017, David became a venture partner at 83North, and he has invested in several companies including Cera, Fiit, Honest Food, Obligo, HungryPanda (board member), Elmenus (board member), Zava (Chairman of the Board), and Karvi (Chairman of the Board). In 2022, David was appointed as the Cost of Living Tsar for the UK Government by No.10 Downing Street and the Cabinet Office.
David’s passion is to work with entrepreneurs and management teams, helping, coaching, and mentoring them to achieve their goals. Outside of work, David is passionate about rugby and is the owner and Chairman of the Dragons Rugby Team.
Jacques Duyver is a highly successful entrepreneur and businessman, hailing from South Africa. He is best known for founding ITEC in 1987, which grew to become one of South Africa’s largest ICT services firms. Over the span of two decades, Jacques expanded the business from a single employee to a workforce of over 800, generating 1.2 billion rand in revenue (160m USD in 2008). This impressive growth led to a management buyout in 2015, financed by Investec Bank.
Following his success with ITEC, Jacques founded and helped build ITEC UK, growing the company to over 200 employees and over 40m GBP in revenue, and successfully completing 15 acquisitions in the UK. This venture culminated in a sale to Xerox in 2020.
As an active private investor, Jacques manages his own family office that invests in both private and public companies. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Jacques is an avid Ferrari collector and a passionate racing driver. His love for speed and precision has led him to win the Ferrari Challenge Series in 2015, the Gulf 12hrs in 2016, and the Blancpain/Total series in 2017. In the same year, he also triumphed in the 24hrs of Spa.
